The vision of the IOLN is to have a thriving Network of ocean champions and organisations deeply engaged with ‘Ocean Literate’ local communities across the island by 2030. The Regional Activism Working Group empowers local communities to become champions for ocean conservation by connecting them with network members to foster collaboration and support.
This group would be inspired by the definition of ocean literacy as put forward by Dr Emma McKinley and support the regional objectives of the Irish National Biodiversity Action Plan (2024-27).
