Film Screening: Who Needs Anemones? | Dungarvan

Who Needs Anemones?, a documentary film by Lia Philcox, follows scuba divers from both sides of the Irish border on their journey to becoming citizen scientists. Through SeaSearch Observer training and ongoing survey dives, this growing community of underwater surveyors contributes to the protection of the marine environment by collecting data for biodiversity databases.

Filmed in and around Carlingford Lough, a sea inlet on Ireland’s east coast spanning the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, the film explores the divers’ personal stories and their shared passion for diving and “giving something back”. The lough’s colourful and eye-opening marine life is showcased through stunning images taken by the divers themselves.
