My Ocean- Heritage Week 2026 “The Sea Weeps” Poem.

Video transcript

This one is called “The Sea Weeps.”

A barstool marine geologist raised a ball of malt to his lips.

We all get sick from time to time,

even the mountains, even the forests, even the seas—especially the seas.

And being a barstool marine geologist, he should know.

We’re all that coming and going, all that ebbing and flowing.

No wonder and there’s no surprise that the seas are sick.

A barstool marine geologist taking in a ball of malt,

the water alive, oblivious to the majesty decreed

that it was nothing more than the salt in the sea,

oblivious to the reason why the sea weeps.
