8th ICASE World Conference on Science and Technology Education

The 8th ICASE World Conference on Science and Technology Education will take place from 22–25 June 2026 at University College Cork (UCC) — bringing a global community of educators, researchers, and policymakers to Ireland.
This prestigious international conference, organised by the International Council of Associations for Science Education (ICASE), will explore key themes in science and technology education, including sustainability, innovation, and global collaboration. Among its many strands, one stands out as particularly significant for Ireland and the IOLN: the Marine Science Education (MSE) Strand.
A key highlight of the conference will be the launch of the Ocean Literacy: The Foundation for the Success of the Ocean Decade book series, an endorsed Ocean Decade activity that brings together global expertise on advancing society’s relationship with the ocean.
The three-volume, open-access series — featuring contributions from hundreds of authors across dozens of countries — explores the critical role of Ocean Literacy in transforming education, research, community engagement, and policy, while supporting the goals of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
The IOLN is featured in Chapter 15 of Volume III of this series. Open Access for this Chapter was funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Climate, Energy and Environment – for which we are very grateful.
Across four days, the Marine Strand will feature:
- Inspiring keynote presentations from international leaders in Ocean Literacy
- A diverse programme of talks, lightning presentations, and poster sessions
- Opportunities to share research, best practice, and innovative approaches to marine education
- Networking and collaboration across sectors and disciplines
